Climate Catastrophism Is A Cult!

First world European countries who drank the climate catastrophist Kool Aid are now facing a winter of discontent, poverty and deprivation - but only for the little people.
Climate Catastrophism Is A Cult!
Cold always kills more people than heat, every year. Expect the death rate to accelerate in Europe.

I was listening to a Katie Hopkins clip about the energy crisis in the UK as winter looms and how plans are underway to create heat bank areas people can go to when they can't afford to heat/light their own homes. They're estimating this will be 1/3 to half the population of the UK.

She points out this is an incredible development given the UK's status as a first world country. It's wide-spread energy poverty where the cost of energy is so high that people have to choose between heat and eat.

What a monumental stuff up!

To be sure, this is a man-made disaster and much as the political class want to lay the blame entirely at Putin's feet, it's inarguably the result of years of fixation on getting rid of reliable base-load power in favour of expensive intermittent energy. This intermittent energy was necessarily propped up by dependence on gas from an authoritarian regime with expansionist ambitions. You didn't have to be Mensa level IQ to contemplate what could possibly go wrong.

Populations have been sold a fiction that modern societies can just switch off fossil fuel supplies in a few short years and still function as a modern society with things like refrigeration, heating, cooling, electric washing machines and dryers and not having to cook over smokey dung or wood every day. All those things we take for granted and that make our lives easier as first world citizens.

According to Bjorn Lomborg, the West has thrown billions upon billions at this fixation (money not spent on citizens/health/education etc), all to change the temperature by fractions of a degree too small to measure let alone feel. While some of might argue with Lomborg's assessment that global warming is a problem and our fault (see graph below from climate scientist Dr Judith Curry), in the very least we can say with certainty we're about to see exactly what happens when the wind doesn't blow and the sun don't shine.

Figure 37. Holocene global temperature change reconstruction. a. Red curve, global average temperature reconstruction from Marcott et al., 2013, figure 1. The averaging method does not correct for proxy drop out which produces an artificially enhanced terminal spike, while the Monte Carlo smoothing eliminates most variability information. b. Black curve, global average temperature reconstruction from Marcott et al., 2013, using proxy published dates, and differencing average. Temperature anomaly was rescaled to match biological, glaciological, and marine sedimentary evidence, indicating the Holocene Climate Optimum was about 1.2°C warmer than LIA. c. Purple curve, Earth’s axis obliquity is shown to display a similar trend to Holocene temperatures. Source: Marcott et al., 2013.

Note in the graph above the warmth of the Boreal and Atlantic period during the Holocene Optimum and the cold of the Little Ice Age, from which we exited circa 1850. If they cannot explain the REwarming of 11,000 years ago, they cannot explain the current REwarming out of The Little Ice Age. Notice too the comparable warmth of The Medieval Warm Period 1000 years ago, The Roman Warm Period 2000 years ago (when they were able to grow shiraz grapes in the north of England) and the Minoan Warm Period 3000 years ago.

Do you see a pattern? During the Medieval Warm Period Vikings inhabited Greenland where they grew crops not able to be grown again until recently. Viking settlements were abandoned with the onset of The Little Ice Age because they couldn't grow crops and no doubt faced starvation.

There are other patterns that impact our climate that we're only beginning to understand. There's The Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) that impacts this region with its multi-decadal (30 year) pattern of either Negative PDO = more La Nina (wet/flooding conditions) before it flips (called The Great Pacific Climate Shift) to Positive PDO = more El Nino (dry/drought conditions). These changes in our climate will be experienced and observable.

Due to systematic propaganda, most will ascribe this natural climate variability to (man-made) 'Climate Change'. That is superstitious reasoning by definition. It's a weakness that's exploited by narcissistic politicians more concerned with their doomsday pulpits and media adulation than the well-being of populations. Consider that in many countries we've had substantial growth in population yet no new infrastructure, such as water capture/management, has been built to accommodate this growth. This failure of Government will be conveniently blamed on 'climate' when the inevitable droughts or floods arrive.

At this point you might be tempted to claim that disasters are happening with more frequency. This too is propaganda you've been 'trained' to repeat. You might like to watch this short video clip of Chris Kenny interviewing Graham Lloyd regarding the latest research showing no such thing!

What we can say with some certainty is that a very few have made an awful lot of money spruiking a scare (including academics), relying on the fact that most average people do not know their paleo-climate history and are easily manipulated with the use of words like "unprecedented". All you need is someone in a white coat sounding authoritative. The only thing 'unprecedented' has been the relentless drum beat of catastrophism!

The notion of a static, unchanging climate is foreign to the history of the earth or any other planet with a fluid envelope. The fact that the developed world went into hysterics over changes in global mean temperature anomaly of a few tenths of a degree will astound future generations. Such hysteria simply represents the scientific illiteracy of much of the public, the susceptibility of the public to the substitution of repetition for truth, and the exploitation of these weaknesses by politicians, environmental promoters, and, after 20 years of media drum beating, many others as well. Climate is always changing.

The above and below quotes are from an essay titled 'Resisting Climate Hysteria' by Professor Richard Lindzen, Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Beautifully written in 2009, his words are even more true today.

And finally, there are the numerous well meaning individuals who have allowed propagandists to convince them that in accepting the alarmist view of anthropogenic climate change, they are displaying intelligence and virtue. For them, their psychic welfare is at stake.

If you want to know what this 'climate change' fad is really all about, then Professor Lindzen's essay is a good place to start!

Back to Europe's looming energy crisis. It's not like this wasn't forecast. Some 4 - 5 years ago, then President Trump, warned the European Union of this very eventuality. He was met with credulous smirks by the arrogant class who looked down their noses and berated him, as was fashionable to do at the time. Bet you those ba*stards aren't smirking now! Where are they, by the way?  Some of us would like some accountability! If only the corporate media knew how to be independent journalists and had the intellectual nous to ask some hard questions?

The impending hardship and deprivation was all avoidable. Katie Hopkins seems to think it's all about controlling the population through energy and food and that we're headed for an Orwellian dystopia. That's a bad place where the political class get to dole out provisions to those 'good' (obedient) citizens who are tracked via digital ID/social credit system - much like what the authoritarian Chinese Communist Party has done to the Chinese people. She's not alone in that fearful vision of the future. It's actually a reversion to what human civilisation has endured more normally. It's the return to serfdom and a ruling class.

The question I have is; what's driving the political class to want dependence and control? I can concede that Hanlon's Razor doesn't always apply.  We can't only put this man-made misery down to the most astounding, short-sighted incompetence. I can also concede that evil has, and still does, exist in our societies. The type of people and ideologies responsible for atrocities, with tens of millions of deaths last Century, are still here.

First they create the problem, then offer themselves as the hero solution. I really wish these people would desist with their attempts to wear their underpants on the outside of their trousers. Not content with simply stuffing our energy grids and energy security, now these ba*tards are going after food production! What's a bit of starvation when you're heroically saving the planet...eh?

To deliberately create poverty and deprivation in once first world countries is quite something to get your head around. To normal people just trying to get by, it's inconceivable. Notice I said normal people?

After the fall of Soviet Russia and the Berlin Wall, Communists didn't just cease to exist. They infiltrated the conservation movement. Notice that most Greens don't talk about conservation? They're ideologues who talk about restructuring society to deal with the problem of fractions of a degree, now known as 'climate change'. Not unsurprisingly, their prescription for most things is actually Marxism.

It's not sustainable; Communism, that is. It's the road to societal collapse. We've seen that too many times in history already. So I ask again, what is it about our political class? What's wrong with them? Are they a mix of high functioning psychopaths, narcissists and suggestible sheeple in the grip of Group Think and/or a cult like belief system? Is that what we're up against? That's my guess.

I've worked with two corporate psychopaths in my approximately 35 years working. Because of this I've read all the books by the psychologists who study them. Not all psychopaths end up in prison as serial murderers. The smarter ones are over-represented in senior positions in big corporations and large institutions. I'm guessing politics too.

They're initially superficially charming, and then chilling. It's like a switch - classic Jekyll and Hide. The first one I ever worked with was actually an organisational psychologist, which I learned later is quite common. They don't go into psychology to help people but to learn how to more easily manipulate. Both psychopaths almost destroyed the organisations they worked for. In leadership positions they create a dangerous culture ripe with bullying. They typically start off small, learning where the weaknesses are. They might start with petty fraud on expenses for example. They set about unpicking the systems and institutions that are designed to constrain and hold people like them accountable.

They get off on malice and hurting people. It's a game of cat and mouse and about being in control and seeing what they can get away with. They don't feel remorse or empathy for the suffering of others. Their brains don't work that way. You're only 'safe' while you're useful to achieving their agenda. The really clever ones are always covert and wield the system as a weapon. I always remember a senior HR Manager telling me that "the key was never to let on to them that you knew what they were, or they would set about destroying you first by smear campaigns."

Where do we see that in our current context? The corporate media is now more synonymous with dirty smear campaigns of anyone with opinions or expertise outside the 'official narrative', than they are with truth and investigative journalism. To be clear, those pushing the climate cult know this industry is worth trillions of dollars. No-one gets in their way!

It's like a big Ponzi scheme propped by tax-payer dollars with so many clipping the ticket on the way through. It started by only funding academic research that would show the human fingerprint on 'climate change'. Academics were paid to find what they were paid to find and knew that future funding rested on coming to the 'right' conclusions. Some liked the almost celebrity status they achieved in fawning media when they made sandwich-board worthy pronouncements that 'the end is nigh' - the Great Barrier is dying, seas are rising exponentially etc etc. This has legitimised policy and more tax dollars distributed to intermittent energy for example, and even more money taken in taxes in the name of 'saving the planet'.

So here we are, first world European countries who drank the climate catastrophist Kool Aid are now facing a winter of discontent, poverty and deprivation - but only for the little people. Let's not even start with contemplating that as the West has sabotaged their economies and energy security, sent industry and jobs elsewhere, belligerent regimes, one with a rapidly growing, offensive capable military, have appreciated the rare opportunity such self-immolation has afforded.
